Up to a third of seniors in Czechia have experienced violence or abuse. Czech Television, in its main news program Události, introduced the new international project Express to Protect, which we are part of and which aims to help change this sad statistic.
The project, supported by the Erasmus+ program, focuses not on brute force, but on practicing effective techniques and cultivating the right mindset. In the television report, viewers could see how vocal intensity is trained, for instance, so that seniors are not afraid to use their voice fully in moments of danger. “Crucial is the training of self-confidence and body language. The course is based on our five principles – think, yell, run, fight, and share,” was stated in the ČT24 report.
During the two-year pilot program, twelve instructors from Czechia and abroad will be trained. The practical exercises will involve 120 seniors who, together with us and the instructors, will help fine-tune the project methodology specifically for their everyday situations.
The full report with training demonstrations is also available in the archive on the ČT24 website.
